The plaza
Jugo is on Plaza de San Andrés, in the Axerquía: right where downtown, the old quarter and the real, lived-in neighborhood meet. It's not the Jewish Quarter, and that's the beauty of it.
A square with orange trees, a fountain in the middle and a 14th-century church closing off one side. In the morning the whole neighborhood passes through; by late afternoon it goes quiet and the sun lands on the façades. People sit on the edge of the fountain, in no hurry at all.
On foot from the Mezquita it's about fifteen minutes through the old city; from Las Tendillas, about ten. If you walk over, it's best to arrive without looking at your phone: you'll pass courtyards, a couple of old taverns and a stretch of city wall.
Rather plan ahead?
If you're after a tasting, a table, a class or a route, it's best to give us a heads-up: tell us your idea and we'll put it together with you.
